KNOWLEDGE OF DIABETES, ITS ASSOCIATED COMPLICATIONS AND MANAGEMENT AMONG ADULTS: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY FROM KARACHI, PAKISTAN
Abstract
Background:
Objective: To determine the knowledge of diabetes, its associated complications and management among adults in Karachi, Pakistan.
Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed in out-patient clinics of ? during?. Attendants accompanying their patients were invited to participate into this. A self-designed study questionnaire was used in this study and face to face to interview was conducted to capture response of participants.
Results: Mean age of 35.7 ± 7.4 years. Age range was 18-65 years. Distribution of males and females was almost equal with 51.5% representation of females. 10% participants had adequate knowledge.
Conclusion: The present study analyzed inadequate knowledge among study participants. An educational campaign should be started and free educational camps should be conducted by healthcare provider to create diabetes awareness among general population.
